Competitive cyclists are needed for the final phase of a research study being conducted by the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific in Vancouver and Victoria. The purpose of the study is determine the impact of a short term heat acclimation protocol and hydration status on plasma volume, hemoglobin mass, and time trial performance in endurance trained cyclists.

Participants would undergo a variety of baseline measures, including VO2max, then train for 5 days in normal ambient indoor conditions with normal hydration before repeating the measures done earlier. Feedback is provided on all measures taken and threshold-based heart rate training zones with information on how to target the individual zones to help optimize your training would be provided at the end of the study. Participants must be healthy, less than 40 years of age, very fit (e.g., Cat 1/2 racer), and already training at least 90 minutes a day most days of the week.
