Very cool, look forward to being able to click around a trail and preview what the views and terrain are like, scope out camping spots, etc. Probably just in trial mode, with a backpack that size (the batteries alone must weigh a ton) I don't see them mapping every trail, let alone all the major trail networks, any time soon! ^ CLICK TO REPLY

Other Sports: Fast Lane for Pedestrians

Liverpool is trying out a dedicated lane for fast walkers this week.
Or is it really a normal lane plus a slow lane for people staring at their phones??
NY Times: Fast Lane for Pedestrians? A City Dweller’s Dream
"A popular British retailer said it would designate a strip of sidewalk in front of its Liverpool store specifically for fast walkers, that uniquely urban breed of pedestrians who silently fume over the ambling gaits of those in front of them.
The one-week experiment, which began Monday, is a marketing ploy by the retailer, Argos. But it has awakened the imaginations of many disgruntled fast walkers, leading some to express the hope on social media that fast lanes would pop up in their cities, too."
It would certainly cut down on my having to yell HOLD YOUR LINE at people zig-zagging around on the sidewalk while I'm trying to pass on the left (only joking.....) ^ CLICK TO REPLY

Another study shows the benefits of high intensity, short workouts. Apparently these benefits kick in with just 30-45 minute a week of 7-8 out of 10 on the Perceived Exertion scale, so we should all be living long heathy lives (at least statistically).
"Study author Klaus Gebel said his research had shown people who regularly did vigorous exercise were up to 13 per cent less likely to die prematurely than those who did moderate exercise. Even making less than a third of your exercise vigorous was linked to a 9 per cent decreased risk of early death."
The Age NSW: You've got to sweat if you want to live longer, Australian study reveals ^ CLICK TO REPLY

You've probably seen this scary pathway before on Youtube, Caminito del Rey (The King's Little Pathway) in El Chorro-Alora, back when the walkway was crumbling and extremely dangerous. It was closed in 2001 after five people died on the 3km long path in 1999-2000. It looks considerably safer now and even though I get crazy bad vertigo I will definitely be checking it out if I'm near Malaga in the near future.
What, no bike path??
Photos credit @totallycoolpix ^ CLICK TO REPLY
