Riding on an indoor stationary trainer used to be a chore - but now with Zwift there are races and group rides happening every day of the week, and there's nothing quite as motivational as riding against real people around the world.

I can tell you from my limited experience that these riders go HARD in the races, make sure you have a good fan to keep cool! There are lots of social rides too, like the TGIF Friday Beer Ride, if you're looking for a more relaxed pace.

Ride on!

Thanks for the info Andy. It's the responsibility of the ride organizers to update the event listing with any changes, but it sometimes they forget.
It's best to keep an eye out for announcements from the ride leader via the group chat before the start, they should announce the intended route, as well as keeping an eye on the group's turn indicators for the first few corners. It's especially problematic on the Richmond course where you can't make a U-turn.
Ultimately, I hope Zwift creates some better group ride & race features built into the world itself, so this won't be an issue anymore. There are a lot of things that could be improved (route selection, making leaders more visible, private/empty course, race neutralizing, w/kg limits, etc etc). Some hints have been dropped that they're working on it, but who knows when it will be ready. ^ CLICK TO REPLY

HI Skye,
Great site - thanks. Quick note on the ARR Saturday ride. Seems there are two rides - or at least a Flat or UCI course. I sailed on past the turn on the first lap and never saw them again. Fortunately so did Jensie, so kind of cool, but might be worth mentioning.
Cheers
Andy Bell ^ CLICK TO REPLY

Check out this awesome automated tool that tabulates Zwift race results!
Zwift Nation - Zwift Race Results
All you have to do is save your ride to Strava with the ride name and group and it should detect you automatically:
Results are generated by looking at riders start time (when they crossed the segment start line) and adding ride duration to identify end time (finish line). To have your ride included and ranked in the results, the name of your Strava activity must include the Race ID and one of the allowed categories specified in parentheses - e.g. "Watopia 11/12/2015 - ZTR (C)".
Please notice:
Rankings might not match 100% what was observed live "in race" as riders' local PC time settings might not be correct and thus Strava data will be equally imprecise. Please check that your local PC time setting is correct before your next race by visiting Time.is.
Unclassified means that category could not be identified correctly from the Strava ride name. Specify category correctly in parentheses - e.g. "(C)". ^ CLICK TO REPLY
